I tried, I really did, but my traditional skills are crap and I have zero time to catch up. I’m throwing in the towel, Inktober. Maybe next year…
I have wanted to get into digital cartooning, similar to what you do. I have been practicing sketches and stuff, but I am curious about what software I should use. I am not looking for anything super fancy, just whatever you use or something similar.
I currently use Paint Tool Sai for all my work. I highly recommend it, and if you can pay for it by all means do so; if not it can easily be found online or you can use FireAlpaca, a free art program very similar to Sai that works for Macs too!
That being said, programs are nice and all, but try to focus on learning the basics of drawing and anatomy, if you’re not doing it already, if ya want to get good as an artist. Even “toony” artists need to know how to properly draw the human body for their art to “work”.
Best of luck to you!
David. I know you mentioned that you've done a kickstarter for Ro-Z. But is there any plans with the concept of Ro-Z? It would be a sweet game, or graphic novel to read to be honest.
I do indeed have plans! Along with a few other concepts, I plan to make it into a webcomic.
Now to pick which of my ideas to work on first. ^^;
You had a kickstarter? It's a shame that it failed.
Eh, it’s old news now. I’ve actually made BIG changes and improvements to Ro-Z’s story since then, so much that it’s entirely different now!
INKtober Day 3 and 4.
I had originally planned this TARDIS drawing to be bigger and more ambitious, however due to lack of time I could only make this half-assed version of my original idea. Note to self: organize my time better if I want to survive this challenge.
That being said, the Ro-Z pic came out fairly well. I had tweaked her design slightly since my failed Kickstarter attempt, and I was able to convey it fairly well here. A little too simple for my tastes, but given the time I had today it’s acceptable.
During today’s stream, I managed to create some designs for a fictional species I created. They’re ghost-aliens that are basically bent on taking over the universe. They’re also in the same universe as Taffi and Limon, and occasionally bump into them in one way or another. I have more info on them, but I’ll save it for a later time.
Here we have a Queen, a King, and a cocky commander named Stan Supernova.
